Few teaching elements in golf instruction are more powerful than the proper use of training videos and I have included many of my favorites here.  What I would like to offer here are videos I use to enhance my coaching, broken down into videos addressing foundational elements, videos which address specific, identified swing faults, and  videos to improve otherwise sound swings. I warn, though,  that  whatever might work for one golfer doesn’t necessarily mean it is going to work for somebody else. Enjoy!

  1. Right Arm Fold - Sequencing: I appreciate drills which effectively show my students what they are really doing, as oftentimes that is the only way true improvement can/ will take place. As simple as this drill is, it effectively identifies and addresses two serious swing flaws, are the extension and in a proper release.

  1. No Early Extension / Proper Released: I appreciate drills which effectively show my students what they are really doing, as oftentimes that is the only way true improvement can/ will take place. As simple as this drill is, it effectively identifies and addresses two serious swing flaws, are the extension and in a proper release.

  1. Right knee flex in the backswing: Oftentimes a golfer’s trail leg can give valuable insight as to the overall effectiveness and quality of a swing. Issues which can be identified include (and are certainly not limited to) improper loading, problems in tilting and shifting,  and poor balance- all which make proper sequencing nearly impossible.

  1. Hip Rotation: Admittedly, many elements of the golf swing need to be broken down more than just a little bit to be fully understood. As a coach, I appreciate how simply explaining something will not embed the level of understanding called for. I refer to this video with my students to not only show them what they  need to do and why- and also to have them be familiar with what perhaps could go wrong.

  1. Complete Transition: Another video is wonderful due to its simplicity,  I have already mentioned how I do my best to implement as many drills and exercises which offer immediate, effective feedback. And I feel we can never do too much to ensure we have complete and effective transitions.

  1. Luke Donald Swing: For as long as I can remember, my absolute favorite golfer has been Luke Donald, in large measure as a direct result of admiring his absolutely perfect swing. Admittedly, this swing might be difficult to replicate (if that would even be desired),  yet I often use this swing as an impeccable example of what a  quality swing looks like.
